As Thanksgiving break was approaching, Mrs Sanders was full of thought, wondering how she could make sure that all staff around Edison feel important. After pondering for some time, she ended up with was the Giving Tree. Leadership had started the#BeKindBeATiger campaign and so I wanted to be sure that we as staff continue to support and celebrate each other before Thanksgiving to be sure to give thanks to one another. That is what was accomplished as the entire staff of the school got at least one leaf each.

“It’s the most rewarding and enjoyable feeling to know that we are making a difference because we teachers put in so much work and heart into our job, so getting appreciation makes our job so much more meaningful and because of that it makes us want to work so much harder and get better for our students, stated Probability and Statistics teacher Mrs. Imirian as she finished reading the leaves that were delivered to her. Imirian’s reaction was exactly what Principal Sanders looking for all staff showing  just how much they appreciate each other.

Often times it is forgotten just how many people are part of the school, including janitors, counselors, campus assistants, and office staff. Ms.Hernandez, attendance assistant, in North Admin was very surprised and ecstatic to have received leaves, “I love the fact that we are showing gratitude to each other because sometimes we get so caught up in work that although we think of thanking someone we don’t always take the time to do it, so this was a great opportunity to, and it is really has made a positive impact on my day.”

The giving tree gave at least one leaf to every staff member on campus and left them with a smile and reminder as they got ready to leave for the week. “Anytime anyone has something special to say, it makes me feel special. I don’t come to work everyday to get kudos and accolades but when I do it definitely is nice and appreciated.” Ms. Haynes, Economy/Government and Bible as Literature teacher stated before smiling while showing off her “bouquet” of leaves(pictured left).
