We treat people different. We treat them certain ways based on nationality, sexuality, and class. While researching I discovered that more than 70% of the world’s adults own $10,000 in wealth. This 70.1 percent only hold 3% of the worlds global wealth. Then after more research, I came across the amount of the people who own the most global wealth. Turns out the world wealthiest individuals only make up 8.6% of the world’s population but yet own 85.6% of global wealth.

The wealthiest countries are Western and European countries. In fact, 10 of the world’s billionaires own a sum in total greater then the amount the goods and services would cost for most nations. Most people are saying that with the amount of money they make that could be helping nations who need it. The problem is that they prefer not to.

Not only is global wealth inequality a problem, but so is sexuality or LGBTQ+ equality a problem. Despite the growing support, the estimated 9 million LGBTQ+ Americans are at high risks.

LGBT workers often cannot extend their health insurance coverage to their partners or children. Without family and marriage tax deductions, LGBT families may pay additional taxes while having reduced access to benefits like Social Security survivor benefits. Due to these and myriad other inequalities, LGBT people are more likely to live in poverty and suffer from health disparities. It is time to address these harmful inequities by ensuring equal protection under the law.”

— Laura E. Durso, Director of CAP’s LGBT Research and Communications.

Many LGBTQ+ community members still face inequality at home, work, school, or just out in the public. Many people believe that it is important that we raise awareness of how the LGBTQ+ community is being treated because of the lack of legal protection. People need to remember that sexual orientation and gender identity are integral aspects of ourselves and should never lead to discrimination or abuse. Having said that I hope that we make it to point where all inequality is dropped, sadly we may never get there.
