The Impact of Kobe Bryant  

As we know Kobe Bryant age 41 and his daughter Gianna age 13 died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California on January 26, 2020. Bryant was an American Professional Basketball Player that played an entire 20 seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers until he retired in 2016. But Kobe Bryant has died on January 26, 2020, as many people may know. The whole world was traumatized by the death of “Mamba” which many people referred to him. But Kobe Bryant was a very successful man winning five championships, 15 All-Star Game appearances, four All-Star Game MVP awards, two NBA Finals MVP awards, and a single regular-season MVP award.   

And ever since then there has been an outpour of support and memorialization for him. Many celebrities such as Shaq, Lebron, and Barack Obama have reacted to his death showing love to the family, but Kobe Bryant also had a daughter who was aboard the helicopter that killed “9 people”. Kobe Bryant’s daughter’s name was Gianna Maria-Onroe Bryant. She was born on May 1, 2006 in Los Angeles, California, to Vanessa and Kobe Bryant. Gianna also played basketball just like her father, and many people thought she would be as good as him, until her death at only 13 years old. Gianna Maria-Onroe Bryant, played at a private school located in Corona del Mar, California, Harbor Day Highschool, for grades K-8.

The Sunday of his death hundreds of Los Angeles residents marched and gathered at the Staples Center to mourn the loss of Kobe. Reports saying that the crowd started a chant screaming “Thank You, Kobe.” Kobe Bryant fans really, really want the game he loved to pay tribute to him in a special way. As of early Tuesday afternoon, a petition calling on the NBA to update its logo to honor Bryant had amassed more than 2 million signatures.  

As of January 29th,  Vanessa Bryant has made her first statement since the death of her husband and daughters’ death. Stating how the family is devastated and she is very appreciative of the letters and statements of support. She also helped start a fund to help support the other families who were affected by the crash called “Mamba on Three.” Condolences to her family and friends, this was a tough loss for her family and the whole entire world. Many basketball players couldn’t even handle the information when on the court balling out.
