I Recommend: Boy Bands

New and old but still on-going popular boy bands

Heaven Balladarez, Staff Writer

These are some of my favorite boy bands and bands that I would really recommend to you. Some of them may not be of interest to you and some may already be known to you, but they are very popular, and I think that they should get all the love they deserve. I have them in alphabetical order so maybe it is a little easier to find them. Some of these boy bands I’ve been listening to as long as I can remember and some, I’ve only just started listening to them. Maybe they can get your love, too. Here are 12 boy bands that deserve your love and attention.

  • A.C.E

A.C.E, standing for Adventure Calling Emotions, is a popular South Korean pop band consisting of Jun, Wow, Byeongkwan, Chan, and DonghunThey debuted in early 2017. Specifically, March 23 2017. They were formed by a record label named Beat Interactive. There most popular song is probably between Savage and Under Cover. In my opinion, it’s Savage, but I’m not everyone, so.

  • AJR

AJR is a favorite of mine. They are an American 2005 pop trio from Manhattan, New York, NY with the names of Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met. Yes, they are brothers. They write, produce, and mix their own songs just in the living room of their apartment! How crazy is that? Their most successful songs so far are “Weak” and “Bang!”. The bands’ genre is five genres, and they are Electropop, Indie pop, 10’s Pop, Dubstep, and Doo-wop. They even have seven Record labels! AJR’s Record labels are Black Butter Records (BB Records), S-Curve Records, Warner Music Group, Warner Records, Warner Music Sweden, Liberatorand Bertelsmann Music Group.

  • BTS

This very popular K-pop boy band has members Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, Suga, V, J-Hope, and RM. Starting in 2013, they climbed all the way to the top of everyone’s playlist in just a year, having their most popular song and first number one, “Dynamite” on everyone’s mind. With their very in-sync choreography and cute, laughable moments, BTS busted through 2020 like it was nothing. Aren’t we all glad they are here!

  • half•alive

half•alive is a musical trio, as you see here, and it contains lead singer Josh Taylor, drummer Brett Kramer, and bassist J Tyler Johnson. Their single “Still Feel” is the greatest “best known song” any band can have. Coming from Long Beach, California, this lovely trio makes the best of those “weird but can’t stop listening to them because they are awesome” songs come to life.

  • Imagine Dragons

Now, don’t we all know who they are? Imagine Dragons have been going at it for how many years now? Wow, 12 almost 13 years and still make worldwide-loved songs. Their most popular song right now, “Thunder”, with over 1.5 Billion, yes, Billion, views on YouTube, was made what feels like yesterday, 3 years ago, and every other song at least 12 Thousand views.

  • Maroon 5

Consisting of Adam Levine, Jesse Carmicheal, James Valentine, Matt Flynn, PJ Morton, and Sam Farrar, this 2001 pop rock band has been making so many types genre of songs you just can’t keep up, even if you are a “since the beginning” fan. Guess how many genres they have. 23! That’s a lot of genres for just one band. Although there are six members, Maroon 5 comes from just right here in California. Los Angeles, California.

  • Monsta X

These 6 boys making contemporary R&B and electronic dance music come from Seoul, South Korea since 2015. ShownuWonhoMinhyuk, Jooheon, I.M, and Kihyun have six different record labels and 14 different awards! They have made lots and lots of popular songs but here is just three: “LOVE KILLA”, “MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT”, and “FANTASIA”. You should go check them out. They are great songs, and if you like those then you’ll like “SOMEONE’S SOMEONE” and “Sorry, I’m Not Sorry”.

  • New Kids on the Block

This might be the oldest band on this list because they come from 1984! Jonathon and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, And Danny Wood. They are members of this very, very popular boy band. If you haven’t heard of them then you are missing out!  They have made so many songs over the years who knows what the number is. Their genre of music is, well, 10 different ones, Boy band, pop music, hip hop music, rhythm and blues, dance music, contemporary R&B, new swing music, bubblegum music, teen pop, and pop.

  • OneRepublic

2002 boy band, OneRepublic, best-known for “Counting Stars” has been making songs each one better than the last, for 19 years, and they don’t plan on slowing down or stopping. One of my favorite songs from them is probably going to be “Apologize” just because it has always been my favorite. If you don’t know them or don’t listen to them, it is never too late to start listening to such a wonderful band!

  • Why Don’t We

Why Don’t We is my favorite band on this list, but I’ll just name a couple of things that will for sure get you to love them and become a Limelight, too! Well firstthey have been going at it for 4 and (almost) a half years now and have already had lots of number one songs! They have just recently released their newest album “The Good Times and The Bad Ones” and had so many fans just dying for it to come out. My favorite song on the album is called “Look At Me” and you just have to listen to it! There are so many things that I can say about them, but it would take up the whole page.

  • 4th Ave

4th Avea boy band consisting of Camry Jackson, Jaden Gray, and Marcus Pendleton, is a pop boy band just from 2018 although they have only been together for 2 years, they still have fans all over adoring them so much. Just go listen to all of their songs and you’ll know why. All 23 of them!

  • 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS)

Last but very much not least, 5 Seconds Of Summer, or 5SOS, is a late 2011 Australian pop rock band with members Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin, who are most popular for their song “Amnesia” with over 171 Million views on YouTube! My favorite song from them is either “High” or “Easier”. Either way I love them, and you should, too!

There are so many boybands that I could have put, but these are the bands that were on my mind. Hopefully these lovely facts have changed your mind if you don’t listen to them. I know if I read this and didn’t know of them or don’t listen to them, I would most definitely start now!
