Job$ for Teen$

Money, the thing that makes the world go round, and for a high school student even more so. If you want to go to football games, hang out with your friends after 2 years in quarantine, or anything else outside of campus, you’ll need it if you want to do it. And the best way to get money? Finding a job. This is easier said than done, however. Lucky for you, this article has everything you need to know about types of jobs, reaching out to get interviews, and even tips for interviews.
When it comes to searching for jobs, ask your family for any connections that could get you an easy interview. If you don’t have any connections, the next step would be to look around on job-finding sites such as Indeed to see what companies are hiring. When talking to the job director of Edison, Mrs. Grisby, she suggested that walking in and asking the manager about an application. The in-person connection makes a lasting first impression with the manager.
If you end up landing an interview, there are a few things you can do in order to put your best foot forward. Mrs. Grisby recommends that you go in with confidence and dress nicely to show your best self. For more interview tips, make sure to ask Mrs. Grisby in South Admin.
Having a job in high school has its pros and its cons. The pros being: getting paid, getting work experience, and learning important life skills such as time management and responsibility. However, having a job in high school can be draining as it heavily impacts your schedule. If you end up working while in high school, remember that your #1 priority is to graduate high school. Make sure to keep your priority on school because there will always be opportunities later on in life for work.
If you have any more questions about jobs or work, head over to South Admin and visit Mrs. Grisby, or email her at [email protected].
