Fall Sports Kick Off

As Edison’s 2022-2023 school year begins, Tigers are taking to the court, field, and pool.

As Edison students head back to school, the hard-working student-athletes prepare for the beginning of their seasons.  Our fall sports include cross country, football, girls golf, girls tennis, girls volleyball, and water polo. This year already looks favorable for our Tigers.

Football:

Football started their season off strong with win against Kennedy at Sunnyside Stadium on Friday, August 19th. Edison’s strong start came unexpectedly compared to their rough 2-7 record last year. Their next game (non-league) is against Hoover this Friday at Sunnyside Stadium. The football team’s first league game is against San Joaquin Memorial on September 30th.

Water polo:

The water polo team had a promising start to their season this past weekend. The JV girls dominated at their tournament in Visalia. They won the championship game 16-1 over Reedley. This comes as a surprise as last year there were so few people there weren’t enough to have a JV team, and now the roster has doubled. This Wednesday the Varsity girls and boys and JV boys competed against Golden West. Varsity and JV boys crushed their opponents and the Varsity girls lost in a close game 8-9. Their first league game is against Bullard on September 20th.

 Volleyball:

Girls volleyball has already had an eventful season. Their first game was two days after the start of school against Fresno High and ended in victory. They are currently 4-4 and have participated in one tournament. The Varsity girls beat Sunnyside 3-0 this Tuesday. Their first league game is against Bullard on September 20th.

Girls Tennis, Girls Golf, and Cross Country:

Girls tennis, girls golf, and cross country currently don’t have a schedule available. However, once these schedules are available, make sure you go and support your tiger athletes at their various sporting events.
