The brand-new Disney exclusive show Ahsoka’s first two episodes were released on Disney+ on August 22nd at 6:00 PM PST. Written by Dave Filoni and starring Rosario Dawson as the show’s main protagonist Ahsoka Tano. She has previously starred in other Star Wars shows such as season 2 of The Mandalorian as Tano.
The show will continue to air a new episode every Tuesday until October 3. Being a Star Wars show, Ahsoka must keep the lore from the previous installments in mind as it develops its story. In the Star Wars timeline, it takes place 4 years after Star Wars: A New Hope. After interviewing some Star Wars fans at Edison, it appears the response to the show is generally negative.
Jose Almaraz; has been a Star Wars fan since the age of five. When asked about the show so far he responded, “ [The show is] mid, since they didn’t really explore further into the older show which the series is based off.” Almaraz’s reference to Star Wars Rebels brings to light the problems Ahsoka may have if it doesn’t fit previous Star Wars continuity.
While Almaraz was underwhelmed by the first two episodes he was still optimistic that the show could turn out well in the end, “[I] see the series going really well and they can explore more into the past storylines…They can branch off with the new characters.”
