Labor Day, celebrated on the first Monday of September, marks the unofficial end of the summer. Last year more than 60 million Americans hit the road for the 3-day weekend. Some people might seek out one last trip to the beach, one last camping day, or one last cookout.
Labor Day is a day we as Americans come together and thank all the workers and unions who fought in the past for better working conditions and fair wages. Thanks to the Labor movement that created the federal holiday, most laborers and students in this country get a day off.
At Edison, many students were prepared for the 3-day weekend. A good number of students were happy that there wasn’t school and enjoyed the break.
Aaron Sanchez, a student at Edison, said “I went to John’s Incredible Pizza for my little brother’s birthday.” He also mentioned, “We made BBQ and wings this, Labor Day.”
Eann Hernandez, another student at Edison, said “I found some great sales at Home Depot.” He added that he enjoyed the food his family prepared, “We cooked some Ribs and Wings for this Labor Day.”
