Our Edison girls’ volleyball team brought home a win against Sierra High School. On September 5th, the volleyball team traveled to Sierra and defeated the opposing team with an overall score of 3-2.
At a varsity volleyball game, the teams play a game of the best 3 out of 5 sets. Each set is played to 25 points and whoever gets to 25 first wins that set. The overall winner of the game is the team that can win 3 sets first.
Edison won the first set with the score being 25-18, but unfortunately lost the second set with 18-25 and the third set with 24-26. But the girls’ volleyball team were able to take back the game and win the fourth set with a score of 25-23 and the fifth set with a score of 15-8.
Some of the players on the team said that they were very proud of the game’s outcome and that their perseverance helped them push through the game’s challenges.
Brianna Mejia, a senior and a setter on the girls’ volleyball team, commented, “I feel very proud for our team because it was our first game where we went to 5 sets, and I feel as though we have leveled up as a team.”
Our girls’ volleyball team plays against Central High School next on September 12 for a home game.
