There are so many different genres of music. There is rock, pop, country, electronic, jazz, hip hop, rap, R&B, and so many combinations of other genres. One music genre has been around since the 1960s but has roots in the 1940s and 50s.
Originating in Jamacia, reggae music has greatly impacted the music industry as well as people in society for many, many years. This music genre has continued to live on through the years, paying tribute to its Jamaican roots and honoring its past artists.
One of those artists, Bob Marley, is considered one of the pioneers of reggae music. He is widely known all around the world for his vocals and songwriting skills. Born on Feb. 6, 1945, Bob Marley was first interested in the reggae genre of music in the early 1960s. He started his legacy in 1963, building a band called “The Wailers” with Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston, both well-known artists in reggae music history.
Bob Marley’s life and his journey through the music industry had an extraordinary effect on his community, the world, and the future of the music industry. To capture his story and share Bob Marley’s legacy with the world, a film called “Bob Marley: One Love” was made in his tribute.
This film was directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and stars actor Kingsley Ben-Adir playing young Bob Marley including Lashana Lynch and James Norton. “Bob Marley: One Love” was produced with the help of David Nesta “Ziggy” Marley, one of Bob Marley’s sons. The movie was released to theatres on Feb. 14, intentionally on Valentine’s Day considering the name of the film “One Love”, which is also the title of one of Bob Marley’s most famous songs.
The Bob Marley film will keep the artist’s acclaimed history and impression on music alive forever. His legacy of love and unity will always be known around the world and his revolutionary story will continue to impact present and future reggae artists.
